AMD Radeon HD 7950 Benchmark Results Spotted

AMD Radeon HD 7950 Benchmark Results - 3D Mark 11

This is a screenshot of the AMD Radeon HD 7950 benchmark results in 3D Mark 11.

While I was waiting for the first AMD Radeon HD 7950 benchmark to hit the Web, it came to my mind to try to find out how this high-end video card will perform via the 3D Mark results database. And I’ve found eight 3D Mark 11 results for the Radeon 7950 right away.

The first seven 3D Mark 11 Performance mode results range from from P4003 to P5871. Most of the accompanying processors in the listed results are labeled as AMD’s engineering samples 1D32246W4K44_38/32/22_2/8. The best two results are achieved using the Radeon HD 7950 in pair with the Phenom II X6 1100T six-core CPU and are done on 16/1/2012. I’ve ditched instantly another, the worst result, since it was only P1913 points. I don’t believe that it’s relevant, since it’s very low.

In the 3D Mark 11 Extreme mode, the best two results are X3135 and X3129, done with AMD’s upcoming GPU and the Intel Core i7-990X processor. There are also two results for the Radeon HD 7950 / AMD Phenom II X6 1090T combination – X2484 and X2219.

I’ve tried to find results for other benchmarks, such as 3D Mark Vantage, 3D Mark 06, and 3D mark 05, but there were no results for them.

Regarding the HD 7950 card specs, it’s based on Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture and Tahiti GPU. It’s known that it has 1792 stream processors, 112 texture units, 32 ROPs, a 384-bit GDDR5 memory interface, and 3GB of VRAM.

The card is expected to hit the market next month, while its faster brother – the Radeon HD 7970 – is already available for purchase.
